About Susana Negre

 

The art and designs of Susana Negre have a big influence on all her travels, experiences and mix of cultures. She was born in Barcelona in 1974 and lived there until in 2000 when she decided to move to London to study and gain work experience, what would be a one-year experience became 12 years, having the opportunity to travel all over the world and lived in Mexico and Rio de Janeiro too.

Regarding her professional career, Susana is specialized at international arts & events management, although she is currently working in the textile field working as a freelance for a international brand.

While in London she studied undergraduate courses in art direction in fashion and photography, and fashion styling at the Central Saint Martin’s School, University of Arts London

as well she studied Arts Management at Birbeck University, having the opportunity to open her own small gallery space  in East London a place for exhibiting & promoting the art of international young emerging artists & designers.

In 2012 she decided to go back to Barcelona, taking a sabbatical year, that ́s when she decided to continue doing what she enjoyed and inspired her the world of art & textiles and that led her to enter into the wonderful world  of weaving and textile. She first trained at Teraninya- weaving school run by the Spanish artist Teresa Aguayo in Barcelona where she trained there for over a year and in 2017 she encourage herself to go back to university to expand her knowledge and specialise in textile design. She has currently graduated in Art & Textile Design at “Escola Massana, school of Art & Design” in Barcelona.

Her work work explores the essence of textures, colours, volume and fibre. She likes to explore and experiment with different fibers materials and how they can transform into a space and complement to each other, she also likes to combine traditional weaving, embroidery techniques adding a contemporary style and giving her personal touch to her work.

 

She uses the creation processes to interpret and transform all her creative ideas into a physical form.
